Population of Georgia

The population of Georgia (except for residents living in the occupied territories) is 3,718,200 people by January 1, 2017. 57.2% of the population (2,128,600) live in urban settlement and 42.8% (1,589,600) in rural settlement. The number of male is 1,781,500 (47.9% of the population), while female - 1,936,700 (52.1% of the population).The share of young people (0-14 age group) constitutes 19.5% of the total population, and the share of working-age population (age group of 15-64 years) is 66.1%.

Sheep and goats: livestock, meat, milk and wool in 2016

Total amount of sheep and goats at the end of 2016 was 936,500 heads. Among them sheep number made up 875,900 heads, goats – 60,600 heads. Among the other regions Kakheti is a leader as per sheep and goats quantity (sheep – 55%, goats – 38,4%). Average price of slaughter meat produced in Georgia was 9.99 GEL/kg at “Fermiskari” in 2016, average consumption price made up 11.85 GEL/kg.

Markets and Fairs: 2016

Due to results of survey carried out by National Statistics Office of Georgia 211 economic facilities occupied by organizing markets and fairs were functioning in Georgia in 2016, 29,4% of which are placed in Tbilisi, 21,8% - in Imereti, 12,3 % - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, 11,4% - in Kakheti region, 8,1% - in Kvemo Kartli, 5,2% - in Adjara, 4,3% - in Shida Kartli, 2,8% - in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 1,9% - in Guria, 1,9% - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti and 0,9% - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions.

Georgia has improved all components included in the Global Competitiveness Index and reflected it in the Macroeconomic Environment. In total, they attracted insurance bonuses in amount of 393,038,614 GEL in 18 different types of insurance (including 60% of the full bonus on the first three ones). According to insurance types, medical insurance has 45% of the market share (76% of the attracted bonus was on the three leading types of insurance. insurance companies reimbursed 231,862,996 GEL during the whole year.
