Rating: Corruption Perceptions Index

The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International ranks countries annually by their perceived levels of corruption, as determined by expert assessments and opinion surveys. It indicates corruption level (frequency/total volume of corruption transactions) in the political and social sectors. The Corruption Perceptions Index is based on the assessments of people engaged in business, analysts and 12 institutions (these institutions are: the African Development Bank, the Bertelsmann Foundation, the Economist Intelligence Unit, Freedom House, Global Insight, International Institute for Management Development, Political and Economic Risk Consultacy, The PRS Group, Inc., the World Economic Forum, the World Bank and the World Justice Project).

According to the Corruption Perceptions Index Georgia ranks 44th out of 176 countries in 2016 (48th in 2015 and 99th in 2006).

Denmark is on the first place (90 points) and Somalia is on the last position (10 points) on a scale from 100 (very clean) to 0 (highly corrupt).

A review of rating can be found in the presentation prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
